Birthday bear watercolor and pastels

Hello! It has been a long time since a make a blog post..since last year! I’ve been working on restyling my website and even if it’s still a work in progress, I would like to start again posting my works! In today article, I would like to share with you my last art I made of a birthday bear watercolor and pastels.

I’m experimenting new tecniques, trying to find the one that I like and I can master quite well. As always I began with some sketches, even I have to say that this is a pretty simple art. For every new draw I made, I look behind to my old ones and I find that I don’t like many of them. But on the other hand I’m happy to see that I take a step further to grow and to find my personal style. I’m learning that it’s so important to made deep searches to artworks mainly  focus on books for children and to look for illustrators to study their style. I usually go on digital collections of library, I find very useuful the Digital Colletion of the New York Public Library.

So I made this little birthday bear art first in watercolor and then I add texture and details with pastels and pencils. I would be so sweet as kids room art as a woodland theme print or even to make a cute gift for a baby shower. I made also a card version of this print, for birthday wishes, you can take a look to my shop here on on my etsy.

Let me know in the comments if you like it and what drawing tecniques you use!
